Name Tracey SmithAbout I was born and raised in Fife but I now live and work in Dundee. In 2008 I completed my final year at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, where I gained a First Class BA(Hons) in Illustration. My work generally consists of drawings, monoprints, screenprints and some painting. I love creating characters from my own stories and bringing them to life. In 2007 my book "Sshh...It's a Secret!" was Highly Commended in the 'Macmillan Prize for Children's Book Illustration' and exhibited in the Coningsby Gallery in London. In 2008 I was awarded runner-up prize in the Birlinn Design Awards 2008 for my 'Wolf of Badenoch' book cover design. In my final year at university I chose to investigate Catalan folk tales and cultural customs for my personal project. From this research I developed a body of printed work, including my main final outcome; a 32 page screenprint children's book and narrative derived from the mythical character of "L'Home dels Nassos". This work was exhibited in the Duncan of Jordanstone Degree Show in Dundee and the D&AD New Blood Exhibition in London. Please email me if you have any comments or would like more information about my work. Press: |
